What dream are you currently turning into reality?
I’m a songwriter and producer living in Los Angeles.
When did you first realize you discovered your dream?
I think it happened over time. Like a lot of producers I spent much of my teenage years playing in bands and chasing after the idea of being the artist myself. That quickly faded when I realized I just do not love singing all that much, but absolutely adore every other aspect of making songs.
How does your faith go hand in hand with pursuing your dream?
The pursuit of music as a career has always been a path led by the Lord for me. Yet as I’m growing both in my career and in my relationship with God, I’ve begun to question whether I’ve truly been “called” to anything other than being with the Lord.
What’s one or two practical steps you take to keep moving forward?
It’s so cheesy but truly loving what you do is so important. If you don’t love what you’re doing, get outta there! The only thing that makes the grind worth it is the joy it brings you through the process, not the product of accomplishment.
What encouragement would you share with someone who’s going after their dream?
To be so locked in when you’re locked in, and so checked out when you aren’t. Someone said to me recently that the more in demand Jesus was the more he “withdrew.” As life gets busier for me I find myself putting my phone down and walking away from the studio even more often just to be in nature and spend time with the Lord.
