Along the way, she’s gotten to collaborate and create alongside artists and teams like Amanda Cook, Passion Music, Bethel Music, and Elevation Worship, bringing her unique eye and storytelling style into the mix.
When she’s not working, you can probably find her hanging with her two cats, Benji and Cowboy.
What dream are you currently turning into reality?
I currently serve as a creative director at a church in Titusville, Florida, where I get to lead an amazing team of creatives, and share what God is doing in and through the church every week. I’m also working toward launching my own creative agency that partners with churches and businesses to help them tell meaningful stories through film, photography and creative social content. My ultimate dream is more than creating something that looks good, but to help people feel seen, communicate something real and make a lasting impact.
When did you first realize you discovered your dream?
My love for filmmaking and storytelling started through YouTube in 2014. I was just documenting random, crazy moments with my friends. But I didn’t realize that those videos were the beginning of something God would continue to grow in me. That love and passion eventually led to an internship at a church in Las Vegas. Then I had years of opportunities to work alongside some incredibly talented creatives who taught me, and still teach me so much. Over time I realized storytelling was something I felt called to pursue, and now has just become a part of who I am.
How does your faith go hand in hand with pursuing your dream?
My faith is the anchor and center of why I tell stories. Through different seasons of life, and different locations, God has continued to light this passion in me by allowing me to cross paths with people and hear their testimonies. Those moments remind me that everyone has a story worth hearing, and by sharing them, we share the love of Jesus with others. Film and photo give me a way to honor those stories and show others what God can do in someone’s life.
I believe creativity is a gift from God, and I want to use that in a way that points people back to Him. My daily relationship with God also keeps me grounded. Although everyday isn’t perfect, it reminds me that my value isn’t based on what I create or how successful it becomes. If I can create from a place of purpose and gratitude, that’s all that matters. God handles the rest.
What’s one or two practical steps you take to keep moving forward?
One step that keeps me moving forward is continually learning. I try my best to take time to learn something new every day, even if it’s as simple as a new recipe at home or a new editing trick. Whether it helps me grow creatively, simply makes me a better person and leader, or just brings something new to my day, I’m here for it. Staying teachable reminds me that there is always room to grow. Another step that helps me keep moving forward is writing in my journal my thoughts each day. Journaling helps me slow down, process what God is teaching me, and get any ideas down on paper. It helps me articulate ideas and grasp them better, as well as clear my mind.
What encouragement would you share with someone who’s going after their dream?
Some of my biggest breakthroughs have come during difficult seasons when I had no choice but to lean on God. Those seasons definitely weren’t easy but they became a foundation to look back on. My encouragement would be to trust God even when the journey doesn’t look the way you expected. God can use those moments to shape you and give your dream a deeper purpose.
Another thing I’d say is, don’t overlook small beginnings either. I started making fun YouTube videos with friends, which then became the beginning of a passion that I chase every day. Remain teachable and keep showing up. Never stop being willing to learn, and continue to place yourself around people who are better than you. What God is doing in your life today could become the testimony that helps someone else keep going tomorrow.
